Competition and Battle Day Viewing 

For public it is $5 at the door per session.All dancers will recieve an all access bracelet so they are able to watch event and come in and out freely between dances .It is encouraged for studios to cheer on others and get to enjoy the art that others have been working so hard on. At Rukus we believe that we are a community sharing what we love and the friendships we all have made thru dance .

Mini- 6-8 years

Junior 9-11

Intermediate- 12-15 years

Senior- 16-18 years

Adult- 19 years and up

Break Down of Levels

Novice- Brand new to competing, maybe have trained a few years recreationally (non-competitive)

Competitive- Train in competitive programs at the studio, minimum 2 years experience.

Elite- Top crews from studios, owner discretion.  High training level.

Company- For those dancers training in a company outside of studio.

Recreational Adult- over 19 years of age and keen to perform for the LOVE OF IT

High School- for those dance classes in high school, chance to compete, but not against the competitive programs in dance studios

Categories

Street Dance

Encompassing all styles of street, can do a variety of styles within a routine, choreographer’s discretion.  Focus is on choreography for our competition side

Basic Rules:

*Clean music.  Studio will be notified if it’s not. 

*Costumes appropriate- this is a community event, with young dancers to grandparents.  If we feel it is NOT appropriate, we will speak directly with teacher and/or studio owner.

How to be backstage

We expect to see dancers cheering for all, regardless of whether your studio or not. It’s amazing that you’re getting on the stage, and you deserve to be celebrated. 

Any behaviors not in alignment studio owner will be contacted. 

Backstage

Dancers and dance teachers only

No parents (unless needed to assist with costume or makeup in dressing rooms etc )

Students allowed to compete in same category (for duets/trios and groups). Not solos.

Judging Criteria:

Each adjudicator will be marking out of 100.

The Competition Side only recognizes 1st, 2nd and 3rd placements we have stripped this competition of all the "new awards" and are taking it back traditional .
